In the early days of photography, taking pictures at night was an enormous challenge surmounted by only a few dedicated photographers armed with a limitless supply of patience. Sitting around for several hours to expose a single sheet of film only to find out the next day that the exposure was an hour too short, used to be a common obstacle for the photographer.
Today, virtually anyone with a decent digital camera and a sturdy tripod can learn to take beautiful pictures at night. All it takes is understanding the basic concepts, tools, and techniques required for low light shooting. As the following tutorial will demonstrate, night photography in the digital age is easy, fun and sometimes a little addictive.
